انا حاروح الاردن في ثلاث ايام

"I go to Jordan in three days"--What the title of this post means in English

If you take a peek to the left, my "About Me" describes what and where my adventures will be. But I'll repeat it here, with a few added details:

This is a blog detailing my summer adventure. I begin in Jordan, doing an archaeological dig in Petra with BYU's Field School of Archaeology (I'm majoring in Near Eastern Archaeology). I'll be there for approximately 6 weeks, during which time we will excavate a series of shaft tombs and an open air shrine. It'll be fun, but a LOT of hard work.

After those grueling weeks of slave labor, I fly to Madrid to meet up with my friend Dane, and we're backpacking across Europe for the following month. Our route will take us from Spain to Morocco, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Rep., Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and finally ending back in Amman. I'll be back July 18th!

Due to the fact that I'll be living in a Bedouin village with no wireless, I'll only be able to update every week or so while in Jordan (the internet cafes in town will love us). As for the rest of the adventure, I have no idea how often I'll be able to update--Basically whenever circumstances allow (and thats about the same situation I'm in when it comes to showering and doing laundry). But when I do have time, you can expect many photos and eloquent passages describing the things I encounter (thus enabling many of you to live vicariously through me).

Good fun!

I can't believe I'm finally going. I've looked forward to this for over a year, and now it's here. I still need to get water bottles and socks and sunscreen and other little things, but I'm ready. I'm so ready.
